QUENCHING FLUID

rbm 4 1

Quenching oil is a specially formulated heat treatment fluid used in the metal hardening process. It is designed to rapidly or uniformly cool heated metal parts—such as steel and alloy components—during quenching. These oils offer controlled cooling rates, excellent thermal stability, and oxidation resistance to help achieve desired mechanical properties like hardness, strength, and wear resistance without causing distortion or cracking.

Purposes of Quenching Fluid:

  • To cool heated metal parts rapidly and uniformly during heat treatment.
  • To control metallurgical transformations for desired hardness and strength.
  • To minimize part distortion, cracking, and surface oxidation.
  • To extend oil life with good thermal and oxidative stability.
  • To enhance quenching performance in various steel grades and component shapes.

Uses of Quenching Fluid:

  • Heat treatment of steel components (gears, shafts, dies, tools).
  • Automotive and aerospace parts hardening.
  • Quenching operations in forging and machining industries.
  • Tool and die manufacturing.
  • Alloy steel and carbon steel hardening applications
